With a background as a carpenter, building technician, constructor, and architect, there is extensive knowledge to draw on. That’s why we understand how most things are assembled – and how the recipient prefers to receive the information.

In the construction and materials industry, there are often many steps in the process when technical knowledge needs to be transformed into instructions that craftsmen can easily understand. This can make it difficult to ensure that the message gets across clearly.

At 3D-Empire, we create a direct link between the technical side and the finished instructions. We work closely with product development to translate their expertise into visual 3D assembly guides that make the work simple and manageable for the craftsman.

Building products come in many shapes, colors, and functions. We can help create consistency in how the products are shown or presented. Over time, we have worked with a wide range of different building products – foil, tape, plaster, tiles, plasterboards, steel systems, bricks, soundproofing, fiber cement, bathroom cabins, and more.

Assembly animation

No, not many people read an assembly guide, and a common question among building product companies is: “Can’t you just send a film?” More and more people expect that there is an installation video for a building product. It could be laying floor panels for underfloor heating, installing an acoustic plasterboard ceiling, a plastic roof on a sunroom, etc.

Product in environment

Just as products can be shown consistently and simply, it is also important in many cases to present the products in the right context. Showcase the product in buildings, even before they are constructed – if you can imagine it, you can create it. Idyllic with light filtering through the leaves, on stabilized gravel, hanging freely in the air – we have no gravity or drying time.

Product calculator

How many roof panels are actually needed for a roof – and what about ridge tiles, battens, ventilation, skylights, etc.? Our calculators can be designed with more or less visual support, depending on what you want to communicate. Fundamentally, anything is possible as long as there is a formula and mathematics behind the calculation.

AR

Materials and constructions in Augmented Reality Today, the vast majority of people can use AR directly on their mobiles and tablets – completely without extra equipment. With modern devices, you can use the camera to scan your surroundings and place 3D objects or surfaces into the real world. This provides a quick and intuitive way to visualize a construction in full scale or see how a wall would look with a different material.

Drewing program

Of course, one must be careful not to step on the architects’ or engineers’ toes when it comes to drawing programs – but…

When we develop calculators, we can also build them in 3D, so they not only include rules for assembly but also give the user the freedom to build on their own. Here, we operate in the intersection between drawing programs and product configurators, where users – based on product rules – can create complex models.

At the same time, we can show how many components are used, generate bills of materials, and export to both DWG format and Augmented Reality.

Assembly images

Step by step – depending on the construction – makes the assembly easy to understand. The entire build is peeled layer by layer, making it simple to grasp both the product and its function. The assemblies created can also be relatively easily turned into short assembly videos, where the sequence is clearly shown.

Data sheets

Setting up technical illustrations for quick understanding of dimensions, usage, and assembly. For example: Screw at 60 cm intervals, and leave a 12 mm gap from the wall – for many, it is much easier to read this on an illustration than to search for it in the engineer’s text. Often, a combination of both works best.
